Denver Public Schools projects the need for additional middle school seats in the northwest portion of the Near Northeast. DPS seeks to leverage a new area middle school to serve as a feeder for Manual High School, a need that key community groups have articulated. At the September 17, 2015 Board of Education meeting, the Board of Education instructed the Superintendent to hire a talented school leader to work in collaboration with the Manual High School community and principal to open a high-performing middle school in fall 2016 to serve as a feeder to Manual High School. McAuliffe Principal Kurt Dennis has been tapped to help advice this process.
