Southwest Shared Access Zone

Recently, we have hosted several community meetings at our schools in Southwest Denver to discuss how to increase access to high-performing middle schools for all families in the region. We are proposing a shared access zone, which means that middle school students would have several options to choose from within a geographic area with a guaranteed spot at one of the included middle schools. A shared access zone will allow our students to be able to choose the program that’s best for them and receive priority enrollment over students that do not live in the Southwest, which means our students will have a better chance of attending a high-performing school.

Share your thoughts at the Public Comment session of the Board of Education meeting. The meeting will be on Thursday, November 13 at the Emily Griffith Campus at 1860 Lincoln.

To sign up for Public Comment, contact the Board of Education office at 720-423-3210 no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day before the meeting for placement on the speaker’s list. If you cannot come to Public Comment, you can share your thoughts with the Board by e-mailing or calling 720-423-3210.
